Joining The Tavern
The Tavern is open to people who want to take part in our tabletop, model hobby, gaming, and community activities in a respectful and welcoming way.
You do not need to be an expert to get involved.
New players, experienced hobbyists, returning players, painters, Game Masters, collectors, board gamers, roleplayers, and people simply looking for a friendly place to start are all welcome.
Who can join
Membership is open to adults, young adults, and young people, subject to The Tavern’s rules, safeguarding arrangements, and available space at sessions.
Some activities may have age guidance, limited spaces, or specific requirements depending on the event, venue, game, or organiser.
Guests and first visits
People interested in The Tavern may be able to attend as a guest before becoming a member.
Guest attendance may depend on the type of session, available space, safeguarding arrangements, and whether the activity is suitable for the person attending.
Young people and under-18s
Under-18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult unless specific arrangements have been agreed with The Tavern in advance.
Where appropriate, The Tavern may have members covered by the PVG scheme who can support activities involving young people. However, if safe supervision cannot be provided, or if numbers are too high, The Tavern may refuse or limit attendance.
Session fees
Some sessions and events may have a fee to help cover venue hire, equipment, supplies, insurance, and other running costs.
Fees will be made clear before booking or attending wherever possible.
Member expectations
Members and guests are expected to follow The Tavern’s Code of Conduct, respect other people, look after shared spaces and equipment, and help keep the community welcoming and safe.
How to get involved
The easiest way to get involved is to join our Discord, follow our social media, or speak to an organiser at one of our sessions.
You can also read more about who we are on our About page, or learn where The Tavern came from on our History page.
